Millions of tons of raw and processed materials are transported by ship each day. In these situations, the cargo's weight has to be measured through a draught survey. It is a complex procedure, which involves calculating the ship's displacement, when it is empty and loaded, as well as various changes in the weight of liquids on board. With Maritime Software Suite, marine surveyors and ship officers may carry out draught surveys, lashing calculations and plot courses. The software complies with the latest UNECE standards and MSC Code of Safe Practice for Cargo Stowage and Securing, it provides manual and automatic calculation methods, correction features and more.

Maritime Software Suite includes three separate applications, for draught surveys, lashing calculations and marine navigation. All three applications can be installed at the same time, with the same setup file and it should not take more than a minute to complete the procedure.

Each application can be launched with its own executable. The Draft Survey module can be used for cargo weight measurements. When you create a new project, you can opt for manual or automatic surveys and make different settings, depending on your choice. If you select the manual survey method, you may choose between metric or imperial measuring units, specify the vessel's shape (box-shaped or finer lined), choose an LCF mode (from aft perpendicular or amidships) and more.

While working on a draft survey, you can specify various details, from the ship's name to its weight or voyage number. Details about the initial and final surveys can be filled in on separate tabs. You have to specify a large number of weight and distance measurements, in a series of input fields. Additionally, the software provides a ballast table, with its own initial and final surveys.

With the help of the Lash Calculator, a surveyor or officer will know how many chains or other materials he should use to secure the cargo. This Maritime Software Suite module is simpler. You just need to specify the ship's length, breadth, speed and GM, as well as the cargo's mass, length, width and height. Additionally, you can specify the stowage position, coefficient of friction and other details. The results are displayed in the lower region of the interface, for each chain.

A navigator can use the Route Planner to create coordinates libraries and use them to calculate routes. Routes and libraries are managed on separate tabs. When creating a new route, you can either insert the coordinates manually or add them from an existing library. It is also possible to import GPX files and review or modify their routes.

Pros

Maritime Software Suite can help marine surveyors or ship officers carry out draught surveys, lashing calculations and plot courses. Each task can be performed with a separate application which is not difficult to understand. The applications allow you to choose between manual and automatic calculations, they provide correction features and more.

Cons

Obviously, if you don't work in the marine field of expertise, Maritime Software Suite will not make much sense to you. Difficult calculations and surveys can be carried out much faster and easier with Maritime Software Suite.
